Ghana’s the Ministry of Trade and Industry has reiterated government’s commitment to the National Export Development Strategy (NEDS) to boost export opportunities for local industries

This comes on the back of President Akufo Addo’s address to the nation on October 30 on the measures government is putting in place to save the ailing economy.

Speaking at the final day of the sensitization programme organized by the Ghana Export and Promotion Authority (GEPA) to create an enabling avenue for local industries to take advantage of the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement to export their goods and services, the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Herbert Krapa, assured participants of government’s continued effort.

He also charged the local participants to leverage on the sensitization drive being activated by GEPA to build constructive discussions and opportunities to enhance their businesses.

“The president reiterated the need for us to intensify our efforts for the drive of exports. That milestone if we are able to achieve will significantly impacts the current challenges we are facing in Ghana today. It is crucial that we have known that we are working towards the National Export Development Strategy which was developed and launched two years ago.” he said.

“Sensitization and capacity build must be very critical in the effort at driving exports, the fact that we have breakout sessions that allow you a more tailor made conversation with the institutions and the experts so that you are able to put you problem before them and speak to the relevant institutions.”
